New apprentice joins Collars
Published: Friday 28th November 2008
With the need to meet demand Collars have taken on a young apprentice to work along aside Lee in the finishing shop shaping spars and oars. Having seen many applicants for the position over the last few months, Mariusz Pamula has accepted the role and joined the Collar team on 21st November.
Having been interviewed by Jeremy and
Angelika in his home town of Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, Southern Poland,
he has recently completed four years of wooden furniture design and
manufacture at the renownd College - Zespół Szkół w Klawarii
Zebrzydowskiej. These
graduates go on to produce high quality
pieces of furniture for the local companies that has made this area
of Poland famous the world over for bespoke furniture. Unlike similar
courses run in the UK where the students are more theory lead, in
Poland from an early age they are in the workshops using the tools
and machines and gaining experience.
With a structured training program implemented by Lee, Mariusz over the next few months will be learning all the required skills including the necessary attention to detail combined with speed that permits Collars to continue to offer a quality product at an affordable cost.
