Bespoke work away from masts and oars

With a proven pedigree in the world of wooden yacht masts and oars, our skills and knowledge have often been called upon within similar industries. As a glue-lam specialist and with the flexibility and facilities to take on a wide range of projects, diversification has become common place.

With the growing demand for traditional and sustainable materials within modern architecture, internal and external columns, both structural and cosmetic, have become regular work to satisfy this growing market. With the ability to turn almost any size of column from a variety of materials, there is little we cannot accommodate.

The link below will highlight some of the bespoke projects we have undertaken over the years.

Flag Pole Specifications

Although individually made to your requirements, we understand that often a little guidance is required in order that the correct decisions are made early on when choosing a flag pole.

With the pole itself, the most suitable material is Oregon Pine as it provides the best strength to weight ration and is a hard wearing timber giving the flag pole longevity. The dimensions of the pole are relative to the overall length, but in general, the diameter will be constant for 2/3rds of it's length before a gentle taper over the last 1/3rd, to make it look aesthetically pleasing.

The finish can be oiled, varnished or more often than not, a white exterior gloss paint system that requires very little maintenance. The pole is supplied complete with a pulley wheel at the top, decorative finial, and flag halyard with a cleat near the base for securing the halyard.

As a general guide the following costs relate to the different flag pole lengths:

18' pole 3-3/4" diameter - £685 + VAT
20' pole 3-7/8" diameter - £728 + VAT
22' pole 4-1/4" diameter - £842 + VAT
25' pole 4-1/2" diameter - £980 + VAT

Normally, we would leave a 3' square section at the base for mounting in a tabernacle or alternatively, to be positioned between two pieces of timber, as is sometimes the case. We can supply this mounting arrangement, either in metal or wood, and will happily provide a quote for installation, if required.
