Classic 6mR Norna II

New mast on it's way to Norway to get Norna II sailing again.
After losing her rig at the back end of last year, Collars were commissioned to supply a replacement mast for the classic 6mR Norna II. Built and launched in 1931 she was designed by Johan Anker of International Dragon fame and proved herself with a very successful racing career.
The new mast has been made to re-use the original fittings and with a specified minimum weight and centre of gravity position, the Sitka Spruce was chosen carefully before being cut into. Careful monitoring of the amount of hollowing in the main body of the spar was needed in order not to make the mast underweight, as once glued there was little that could be done. The spar was shaped, the fittings were added, and weighted, and the extra work was worth the effort.
Packed and shipped up to Newcastle by Tony Ainsworth Transport, she will meet a vessel for onwards travel to Norway.
