The Drascombe Lugger, a versatile open sailing boat, first launched in the 1960s and now well loved around the world for its stability, charm, and seaworthiness. With its distinctive yawl rig and simple handling, it’s a favourite for family sailing, cruising, and exploring coastal waters. Collars have been supplying the traditional wooden spars for the Lugger since its introduction, and we continue to provide replacement masts, booms, and sprits today for owners looking to keep their boats sailing.
All the spars are supplied in spruce, fully varnished but without fittings. The exception is the main mast as a new pulley wheel is fitted in the masthead. While the mizzen, yard, and bumpkin have been consistent over the years and different versions, the masts have had alterations to their length. Originally, they were made at 15'4-1/2", but after a while increased to 16'4-1/2" to provide more visability under the foot of the sail. When the company split and the boats were being made by both Honnor Marine and McNulty Boats there was also a 16'1" mast supplied in large numbers. Generally we aim to carry the longer mast in stock that we can trim if necessary, but to ensure the correct mast is supplied please provide the overall length required when ordering. As well as this there were two different mast band sizes used over the years. Please measure the inside diameter of the top band which should be either 60mm on the early boats and 64mm on later models.
